Our desert adventure truly begins as we head towards the majestic Chegaga dunes. Day 2: Cheguagua - Mhamid – Tamgroute Library – Zagora
After witnessing the magic of sunrise over the Chegaga dunes, we’ll set off on a morning journey towards Mhamid. Along the way, we’ll be enchanted by the sights of Tamegroute. Here, we’ll delve into history with a visit to the Zaouia, an ancient Koranic library. We’ll also have the opportunity to witness the work of skilled pottery artisans and explore the fascinating underground kasbah. Continuing our southward adventure, we’ll arrive at the stunning Oasis of Tagounite, nestled amidst the Ait Isfoul tribe territory. Our day winds down in Zagora, a city aptly nicknamed the “Desert Gate” – a fitting title considering the legendary journey to Timbuktu once began here, as evidenced by the intriguing inscription “Timbuktu 52 days”.

Day 3: Zagora – Draa Valley – Tansikht – Nkob - Tazarine - Alnif - Rissani - Merzouga
Fuel up for a day packed with discoveries! After breakfast, we bid farewell to Zagora and head towards Tazarine. Our desert journey unfolds as we traverse vast plains, passing by charming Berber villages. A fascinating stop awaits at the engravings cave of Aït Ouazik, where ancient stories are etched onto the rock face. Tazarine beckons next, a town famous for its vibrant Henna festival. Here, you might even get a chance to witness this unique cultural celebration. We continue onwards to Alnif, an oasis town renowned for its delectable dates and captivating fossil stones – a perfect opportunity to grab a delicious lunch and a one-of-a-kind souvenir. As the afternoon sun casts long shadows, we’ll set off towards Rissani, steeped in history as Morocco’s first imperial city and the former capital of the Alaouite dynasty. After a short drive, the golden sands of Erg Chebbi rise on the horizon. Our adventure culminates for the day at a comfortable hotel nestled amidst these breathtaking dunes.

Day 4: Merzouga - Khamlia - Merzouga

Next, we’ll journey to the unique village of Khamlia, nicknamed the “black village” for its residents’ African descent. Immerse yourself in the vibrant culture with a mesmerizing performance by Gnawa musicians. To tantalize your taste buds, a traditional Berber pizza awaits you for lunch in Khamlia. Day 5: Merzouga - Erfoud - Touroug - Tinjdad - Tinghir – Todra Gorges

After this unforgettable experience, we’ll hop back on our camels for a ride back to the hotel, where a refreshing shower and a delicious breakfast await. Feeling rejuvenated, we’ll head back to Rissani, home to the largest traditional market in southern Morocco. Prepare to be dazzled by the sights and sounds – a kaleidoscope of colors, enticing aromas of spices, and the friendly buzz of local vendors. Next stop: Erfoud, where time travel becomes a reality! We’ll visit a fossilized marble factory and witness the transformation of prehistoric treasures into stunning pieces of art. Our journey continues along scenic roads, taking us past charming Berber villages like Touroug and Tinjdad. Finally, we arrive in Tinghir, the gateway to the awe-inspiring Todra Gorges. Get ready for an unforgettable adventure – we’ll hike through the heart of the gorge, following the path of the Todra River as it winds between towering cliffs.

Day 6: Tinghir - Boumalne – Dades gorges- Boutaghrar- Rose valley - Kelaa Mgouna - Skoura – Ouarzazate
After breakfast, we’ll depart from Boumalne, marking the entrance to the Dades Valley. Prepare to be mesmerized as we drive alongside the valley, eventually reaching the dramatic Dades Gorges. Here, we’ll embark on a scenic hike, following the path carved by the Dades River. Next, we’ll retrace our steps slightly to visit the impressive Ait Youl Kasbah. Then, it’s time for an off-road adventure! We’ll take a bumpy but thrilling ride through the Atlas foothills, heading towards Boutaghrar. This unique village is home to nomadic communities who have carved their dwellings into the very caves of the mountains. We’ll stop for a delicious lunch at a traditional restaurant in Boutaghrar before continuing our journey. The afternoon unfolds with a visit to the captivating Rose Valley in Kelaat Mgouna. Immerse yourself in the fragrant world of roses as we explore a “house of roses,” where these delicate petals are transformed into luxurious perfumes, lotions, and oils. As the day draws to a close, we’ll head towards the Kasbah of Amerdhyle, nestled amidst the Skoura Oasis. Finally, our adventure culminates in Ouarzazate, where we’ll arrive for a well-deserved rest after this exhilarating day.
